Lead Special FX Artist
We are seeking an exceptionally skilled Lead Special FX Artist to work on a new MMORPG currently in production. The ideal candidate has extensive experience creating special effects for real time applications and is able to create visual effects that fit our art style. The Lead Special FX Artist must have experience managing a team of other SFX artists. The Lead Special FX artist works with the art director and the rest of the art leads to establish a cohesive look aimed to complement overall look of the game. The ideal candidate also works well in a professional environment with colleagues that are passionate about making great games.
Responsibilities:
- Create, texture, animate and polish a variety of in-game special effects and effects sequences.
- Work together with the art team to create amazing effects for our MMO.
- Incorporate feedback from Art Director and peers to make requested improvements in a positive and constructive way.
- Produce work in an efficient and timely manner, on schedule. Take initiative to resolve arising problems related to SFX.
- Work closely with colleagues to foster a highly communicative, coordinated team effort.
- Participate and collaborate with Art Director and team in animation reviews to create the finest artistic look possible.
- Mentor and lead less experienced artists by example. Help establish and perpetuate the quality bar.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years experience as a Special FX artist on a few shipped AAA games required.
- Experience managing team using a collaborative approach.
- Strong understanding of particle effects technology and techniques.
- Excellent sense of timing, scale, form, color, texture, and detail.
- Understanding of performance concepts such as frame rate, and overdraw and how particles affect them.
- Experience developing particle FX for real-time applications required.
- Proficiency in 3D packages such as Max and/or Maya, and Adobe Photoshop.
- Experience with Adobe After Effects and knowledge of post process compositing technique a plus.
- Experience with non-real time FX (rendered particle FX, fluid simulation software, compositing tools and techniques) a plus.
- Candidates should possess creative problem solving skills and the capacity for learning new procedures and techniques.
- Excellent traditional artistic skills a plus.

Lead Environmental Artist
We are looking for an exceptionally skilled Lead Environmental Artist to work on a new MMORPG currently in production. The ideal candidate has experience creating a diverse range of styles, settings, interiors, characters, exteriors, and ecotypes. The Lead Environmental Artist must have experience managing a team of 3D artists. Potential candidates should be skilled in another form of art production as well – illustration, some knowledge of animation – and be well-versed in related tools such as 3DS Max, Photoshop, etc. The ideal candidate also works well in a professional environment with colleagues that are passionate about making great games.
Responsibilities:
- Create the look of the game - Working with the Team to establish a consistent modeling style by creating inspiring models that focus on dynamic visual elements that maintain accurate scale and character/creature anatomy.
- Demonstrate broad modeling skills, with a deep understanding of the principles of low poly modeling and texturing.
- Collaborate with the Team to implement the vision for the game
- Produce work in an efficient and timely manner, on schedule. Take initiative to resolve art pipeline issues.
- Work closely with colleagues to foster a highly communicative, coordinated team effort
- Ensure quality of related assets by maintaining responsibility over your work throughout the project's development
- Help establish best practices for modeling and texturing.
- Participate, collaborate with Art Director and team in Model/Animation reviews to create the finest artistic look possible.
- Mentor and lead by example less experienced artists. Help establish and perpetuate the Quality Bar.
Qualifications:
- Excellent traditional artistic skills a plus; with a strong grasp of composition, anatomy, architecture, and set design.
- 7+ years experience as a Modeler or 3D Artist on a shipped AAA game required.
- A demo reel that demonstrates outstanding character and environment modeling and design
- Experience in a leadership position on a shipped title or film production.
- Have a strong technical aptitude for 3D modeling tools and game engine technologies
- Fluent knowledge of several art applications used in the production of 3D models, Animation, etc.
- Experience in critiquing models
- Max scripting experience a plus.

Technical Illustrator
We are looking for an exceptionally skilled Technical Illustrator to work on a new MMORPG currently in production. The ideal candidate has experience concepting and creating mechanically accurate 2D and 3D images for games or use on the web. A solid grasp of composition, industrial design and mechanical reasoning is essential. Potential candidates should be well-versed in related tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Painter, etc., and have rudimentary knowledge of Flash. The ideal candidate also works well in a professional environment with colleagues who are passionate about making great games.
Responsibilities:
- Create 2D and 3D assets in Flash that are technically/mechanically accurate and stylized to fit our game world - objects need to look like they work and like they belong.
- Ensure that high quality work is finished on schedule, ready to implement.
- Collaborate with the team to help define and shape these art assets to best function in the game.
- Creating animations in Flash.
- Creating vector art assets (preferably crafted in the Flash IDE).
- Creating effects for use in Flash.
Qualifications:
- Ability to work within a style including a style set by another artist/art director.
- Must produce high quality graphics with attention to detail.
- Proficient with Adobe Photoshop.
- Must have a rudimentary knowledge of Flash. ActionScript programming a plus.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Remains focused, motivated and effective on all tasks through completion.
- Related degree in art or illustration (or equivalent work experience).
- Experience creating art to meet technical and artistic requirements.

The 3D Modeler must be highly organized, detail-oriented and have strong technical and problem-solving skills.
